Simon Kaja, PhD, is a neuropharmacologist specializing in ocular pharmacology, toxicology, and drug discovery and development. He brings more than fifteen years of experience across academic, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical settings.
Dr. Kaja advises emerging and midsize biotech companies, academic startups, and established pharmaceutical companies on ocular pharmacology and safety assessment, nonclinical development strategy, and the scientific components of IND submissions. His services include study planning, protocol and report review, study monitoring, and on-site study support.
He also contributes scientific expertise to NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) applications and helps clients identify CRO and laboratory partners that meet their program’s scientific, technical, and operational requirements.
He holds the Dr. John P. and Therese E. Mulcahy Endowed Professorship of Ophthalmology at Loyola University Chicago, where he directs the Ocular Pharmacology and Drug Discovery Laboratory and oversees an NIH-funded research program in ophthalmic drug discovery.
